FSV Krefeld's supporters crossed their fingers, but Peter Timmermann was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After 14 minutes, Achim Mattheis mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the FSV Krefeld and the Friesau FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. After 14 played minutes FSV Krefeld got a freekick which was hit by Achim Mattheis. The supporters of Friesau FC booed when FSV Krefeld was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 15 match minutes in a wonderful position. Jakob Kühnemund didn't get a good kick on the ball. Ralph Weichert showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Mayk Poggenborg, who was totally free with the ball in the 18th minute. Mayk Poggenborg struck a weak shot in the 23rd minute. Ralph Weichert didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Friesau FC. In the 26th minute, Jakob Kühnemund hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Ralph Weichert made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Uli Gentner in the 35th minute of play. In the 39th minute, Uli Gentner left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Friesau FC fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-1. Ralph Weichert showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Mayk Poggenborg, who was totally free with the ball in the 42nd minute. In the 45th match minute, FSV Krefeld was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Achim Mattheis to maneuver through the defense. Jakob Kühnemund was shown his second yellow card after 46 minutes, following a rather ugly tackle on opponent. That was the end of his participation in the match. After 47 played minutes FSV Krefeld got a freekick which was hit by Jakob Kühnemund. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The tension between the FSV Krefeld and the Friesau FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 91st minute there was a penalty for Friesau FC. Arne Krause stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Ralph Weichert. 0-2. After a rather tough play, FSV Krefeld's Peter Timmermann got a free kick in the 96th minute. When Peter Timmermann came up free with the goalie in the 98th minute, the FSV Krefeld fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Peter Timmermann couldn't finish the play.
