The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Benedikt Märs lost his temper 10 minutes into the game and shoved another player to the ground. He was immediately shown a red card. Jo Zapf's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Wolfgang Kretzschmann read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 15th minute of play. The Heusdorf players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. FcGadebusch were winning 1-2.
The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Jo Zapf stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. After 95 played minutes Heusdorf got a freekick which was hit by Ferdinand Aue. Jo Zapf struck a weak shot in the 97th minute. Wolfgang Kretzschmann didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Heusdorf.
