To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The score stood at 0-0 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Wim Gonder was the one to do the kick off. With a little luck, 1. FC Kleve's Feddo Barz got control of the ball when Erwin Flamme tried to sneak it across the goal line. If Wim Gonder had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 57th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. SC Preußen Münster's Wim Gonder got a good chance for a goal in the 60th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 85th minute of the match, Wim Gonder tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Feddo Barz saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. Erwin Flamme fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 86th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Feddo Barz having to interfere. Patrick Rebsch kicked well hit freekick during the 87th minute of the match. Wim Gonder received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 89th minute. Feddo Barz tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. A collision led to 1. FC Kleve getting a freekick after 90 minutes play. Achim Gerland hit a great ball. Erwin Flamme sent away a hard shot on goal in the 92nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Wim Gonder's late challenge caught a 1. FC Kleve's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Wim Gonder helped the player get up and apologised. The supporters of 1. FC Kleve booed when SC Preußen Münster was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 97 match minutes in a wonderful position. Wim Gonder didn't get a good kick on the ball. When the final whistle sounded SC Preußen Münster left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than 1. FC Kleve.
