After a defensive mix-up in SV Gengenbach's zone, Leo Grohganz stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Alf Harder came out of the goal and Leo Grohganz tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Alf Harder didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Alan Koller went, in the 6th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-1 was the resulting score. SV Gengenbach's Alf Harder played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Leo Grohganz in the 11th minute of play. If Erhard Haye de la had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 13th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Erwin Baumgärtner sent away a hard shot on goal in the 15th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After a rather tough play, Kirchhellen's Erwin Baumgärtner got a free kick in the 19th minute. Anno Ollert received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 20th minute. Alois Nebe tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Alois Nebe was a little too slow when Anno Ollert got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 25th minute. The score was now 1-1. In the 29th minute Alan Koller shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Alf Harder saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. If Erwin Baumgärtner had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 35th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Alan Koller stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. The supporters of Kirchhellen booed when SV Gengenbach was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 53 match minutes in a wonderful position. Mike Prewo didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 77th minute, Filippo Klaeden hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Erwin Baumgärtner received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 80th minute. Kirchhellen were awarded a corner in the 98th minute after SV Gengenbach's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Steffen Stegelmeier took the corner. Kirchhellen's fans were overjoyed with their teams well-earned victory and stayed in the stadium long after the final whistle to celebrate the win.
