The referee felt a red card was in order, 3 minutes into the game, when Uwe Melzer put in a rough tackle. Erlend Kamp went to the wrong direction when Basil Brommer was taking care of the penalty kick which however missed the goal. Ronnie Benesch could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 7th minute of the match, but Albert Kraus made a huge save. In the 14th minute, Eintracht Frankfurt's August Heiß ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Albert Kraus. Albert Kraus yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 1-0. In the 16th minute Johannes Borger shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Albert Kraus saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. August Heiß received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 19th minute. Albert Kraus tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 25th minute, Ronnie Benesch hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Axel Kramer hit a great freekick 26 minutes into the match. If August Heiß had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 32nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Ronnie Benesch sent away a hard shot on goal in the 35th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 38th minute, August Heiß got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Ronnie Benesch struck a weak shot in the 40th minute. Albert Kraus didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Eintracht Frankfurt. When Ronnie Benesch came up free with the goalie in the 42nd minute, the Eintracht Frankfurt fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Ronnie Benesch couldn't finish the play. Ronnie Benesch blasted a shot towards the goal in the 43rd minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Albert Kraus having to make a save. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 1-0 at half-time.

Detlef Grabosch sent away a hard shot on goal in the 52nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Eintracht Frankfurt's Erlend Kamp proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 53rd minute of the match, managed to save Eintracht Frankfurt from getting a goal against them. After some careless play in the Kosmonauten Prenzelberg defense, August Heiß kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Albert Kraus. The Kosmonauten Prenzelberg fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Albert Kraus should have stopped the shot. Ronnie Benesch fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 59th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Albert Kraus having to interfere. Radim Schlebusch recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 61st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. If August Heiß had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 65th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After having played for 67 minutes, Ronnie Benesch managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Eintracht Frankfurt's supporters crossed their fingers, but Ronnie Benesch was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Radim Schlebusch sent away a hard shot on goal in the 70th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. A collision led to Kosmonauten Prenzelberg getting a freekick after 71 minutes play. Otis Scholven hit a great ball. August Heiß fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 78th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Albert Kraus having to interfere. In the 87th minute Radim Schlebusch shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Albert Kraus saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 88th minute, August Heiß got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Albert Kraus took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from August Heiß, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After some fancy dribbling in the 91st minute, Detlef Grabosch managed to get in a good position for a shot. Eintracht Frankfurt's supporters rose to their feet, but Detlef Grabosch was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Albert Kraus breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Davor Blecker sent away a hard shot on goal in the 92nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. With a little luck, Eintracht Frankfurt's Erlend Kamp got control of the ball when Hendrik Janssen tried to sneak it across the goal line. There was no doubt that Eintracht Frankfurt were the better team. Eintracht Frankfurt's players enjoyed the ovations of the crowd after the victory.
