When the match had been going on for 6 minutes, Eintracht Frankfurt's Mario Reimers got an opportunity to shoot a penalty. He stayed cool and waited for the goalkeeper to move, before he confidently shot the ball into the goal, to the left of Erich Barzik. In the 11th minute August Heiß shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Erich Barzik saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 13 minutes into the game, Peer Dams cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 2-0. Erich Barzik was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. An unexpectedly hard shot by Bozo Recknagel in the 19th minute of play forced Eintracht Frankfurt's goalkeeper Erlend Kamp to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After having played for 21 minutes, Ronnie Benesch managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. After a rather tough play, Eintracht Frankfurt's Theodor Thoroe got a free kick in the 28th minute. After 29 played minutes, Manevra FC's Alf Graf shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Erlend Kamp came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Manevra FC reached it. An unexpectedly hard shot by Detlef Grabosch in the 31st minute of play forced Manevra FC's goalkeeper Erich Barzik to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Ronnie Benesch fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 32nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Erich Barzik having to interfere. 35 minutes into the match, August Heiß had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Erich Barzik. Manevra FC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that August Heiß was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 3-0. August Heiß received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 42nd minute. Erich Barzik tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. A hard shot 44 in the game by Detlef Grabosch from a close distance when the talented Erich Barzik managed to make a qualified save. Manevra FC's players were relieved. After having played for 46 minutes, Radim Schlebusch managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Eintracht Frankfurt's supporters crossed their fingers, but Radim Schlebusch was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 48 minutes into the match, Manevra FC's Bozo Recknagel sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Erlend Kamp narrowly saved just below the crossbar. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 3-0.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Peer Dams was the one to do the kick off. In the 53rd minute, one of Manevra FC:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Manevra FC. Mario Reimers placed the ball on the penalty spot and got himself ready to shoot. Post out! After a defensive mix-up in Manevra FC's zone, Ronnie Benesch stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Erich Barzik came out of the goal and Ronnie Benesch tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After 58 minutes of play, Eintracht Frankfurt's Detlef Grabosch made it 4-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Erich Barzik was left in no man's land by his defense there! Ronnie Benesch received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 61st minute. Erich Barzik tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 64th minute, Detlef Grabosch got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Ronnie Benesch received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 68th minute. Erich Barzik tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. A collision led to Manevra FC getting a freekick after 68 minutes play. Ronald Bonatz hit a great ball. Eintracht Frankfurt's Peer Dams got a good chance for a goal in the 70th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The corner led Eintracht Frankfurt's Mario Reimers to fire away a dangerous shot which Erich Barzik despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. Detlef Grabosch might have been able to make a better finish in the 89th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Erich Barzik. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Detlef Grabosch ran back to his position shaking his head. When Ronnie Benesch came up free with the goalie in the 90th minute, the Eintracht Frankfurt fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Ronnie Benesch couldn't finish the play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Peer Dams in the 98th minute of play forced Manevra FC's goalkeeper Erich Barzik to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. There was no doubt that Eintracht Frankfurt were the better team. Eintracht Frankfurt's players enjoyed the ovations of the crowd after the victory.
