Quirin Wolter kicked well hit freekick during the 4th minute of the match. Thomas Scharfenberg showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Christian Böse, who was totally free with the ball in the 5th minute. In the 6th match minute, 1. FC Thiemheim was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Ray Dückert to maneuver through the defense. Klein Breese's Christoph Kien got a good chance for a goal in the 7th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Thomas Scharfenberg showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Volkmar Mebus in the 10th minute of the match. The supporters of Klein Breese booed when 1. FC Thiemheim was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 17 match minutes in a wonderful position. Willi Lenz didn't get a good kick on the ball. Ray Dückert's late challenge caught a Klein Breese's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Ray Dückert helped the player get up and apologised. After 18 played minutes 1. FC Thiemheim got a freekick which was hit by Ray Dückert. 20 minutes into the match, 1. FC Thiemheim's goal looked a bit too open when Thomas Esser came free, but Thomas Scharfenberg reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Dierk Wilkendorf blasted a shot towards the goal in the 21st minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Thomas Scharfenberg having to make a save. In the 22nd minute Dierk Wilkendorf shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Thomas Scharfenberg saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 28th minute, 1. FC Thiemheim's Ray Dückert dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 2-0. After having played for 34 minutes, Jost Pofalla managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. 1. FC Thiemheim's supporters crossed their fingers, but Jost Pofalla was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Thomas Scharfenberg didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Dierk Wilkendorf went, in the 36th minute, to the upper right corner, 2-1 was the resulting score. Hugo Höfer received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 39th minute. Finn Büttgenbach tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Finn Büttgenbach showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Luis Hädicke in the 42nd minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Volkmar Mebus in the 47th minute of play forced 1. FC Thiemheim's goalkeeper Thomas Scharfenberg to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 2-1.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Volkmar Mebus stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Volkmar Mebus was extremely unlucky when he, in the 52nd minute, took a shot that hit the right post and went out. In the 54th minute Volkmar Mebus shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Thomas Scharfenberg saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 55 played minutes 1. FC Thiemheim got a freekick which was hit by Quirin Wolter. Christian Böse's shot from long distance was a real pearl which went to the right and just passed Thomas Scharfenberg - 2-2 was put on the score board in the 56th minute. In the 65th match minute, 1. In the 70th minute of the match, Dierk Wilkendorf got a very nice opportunity to score, but Thomas Scharfenberg was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. Thomas Scharfenberg made an important save on a dangerous shot by Dierk Wilkendorf in the 73rd minute. Ray Dückert kicked well hit freekick during the 74th minute of the match. Dierk Wilkendorf could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 84th minute of the match, but Thomas Scharfenberg made a huge save. In the 85th minute, Klein Breese's Volkmar Mebus dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 2-4. Thomas Scharfenberg made an important save on a dangerous shot by Thomas Esser in the 88th minute. Klein Breese's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
