In the 3rd minute, Ray Dückert hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Bozo Recknagel spun around in front of the goal 9 minutes in the game, and got away a shot that, to his disappointment, went to the left of 1. FC Thiemheim's goal. A collision led to Manevra FC getting a freekick after 16 minutes play. Jörgen Bossert hit a great ball. 1. FC Thiemheim's Jost Pofalla got a good chance for a goal in the 19th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Hartmut Grabert recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 23rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After 27 played minutes 1. FC Thiemheim got a freekick which was hit by Friedo Neubert. 30 minutes into the game, Andreas Dohnanyi was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. 1. FC Thiemheim's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Manevra FC the free kick. After a rather tough play, 1. FC Thiemheim's Andreas Dohnanyi got a free kick in the 30th minute. Luis Hädicke received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 34th minute. Erich Barzik tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Luis Hädicke could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 36th minute of the match, but Erich Barzik made a huge save. If Jost Pofalla had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 39th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead.

After 51 played minutes 1. FC Thiemheim got a freekick which was hit by Ray Dückert. Manevra FC's Jörgen Bossert shoveled away a really nice long shot in the 55th minute of play. The shot was stopped by Thomas Scharfenberg but with some difficulty. 58 minutes into the game, Willi Lenz was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. 1. In the 62nd minute, Hugo Höfer got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. 63 minutes into the match, Luis Hädicke notched a goal, 1-0, to the right of Manevra FC's Erich Barzik. Erich Barzik was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. In the 72nd minute Jost Pofalla shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Erich Barzik saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Jerome Schur in the 74th minute of play forced 1. FC Thiemheim's goalkeeper Thomas Scharfenberg to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Thomas Scharfenberg showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Hartmut Grabert in the 77th minute of the match. Jost Pofalla recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 83rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. If Hugo Höfer had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 85th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 87th minute, Bozo Recknagel got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. The 1. FC Thiemheim players were eager to celebrate when the final whistle sounded. They had somehow managed to win, even though the away team had held the majority of the possession.
