With an extended leg and a bit of luck Leopold Hartdegen prevented the ball from getting in the gole. In the 35th minute, Sebastian Dullinger fired away a killer shot towards the goal that, to the delight of Johannes Eichwald, passed just outside the right post. 44 minutes into the match, Marcel Tegtmeyer had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Leopold Hartdegen. RWD2's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Marcel Tegtmeyer was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-1. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 2-1.

Gerhard LaRouche's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Leopold Hartdegen firmly grabbed it by the left post.
