The referee ignored FC Südstadt's protests and gave Jakob Oppenheim a yellow card for diving instead. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Rudi Knecht stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Reimund Heim's shot from short distance in the 77th minute. Löveling's Fred Groneberg played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Traugott Hunger in the 84th minute of play. 92 minutes into the match, Löveling's Reimund Heim sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Rudi Knecht narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Marc Lettrari might have been able to make a better finish in the 96th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Rudi Knecht. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Marc Lettrari ran back to his position shaking his head.
