With an all-out effort, VfB Oldenburg's Rudi Knecht threw himself towards the right post 17 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Aimo Haug, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. After some fancy dribbling in the 19th minute, Traugott Hunger managed to get in a good position for a shot. FC Südstadt's supporters rose to their feet, but Traugott Hunger was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Niklas Wischniewski breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. If Traugott Hunger had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 22nd minute. The tension between the FC Südstadt and the VfB Oldenburg players grew even worse after the yellow card. The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Traugott Hunger stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Traugott Hunger could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 52nd minute of the match, but Niklas Wischniewski made a huge save.
