Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) The mood of the audience was pleasant when Reimund Heim made the kick off which started today's match. After 4 minutes of play, Borussia Dortmund's Harald Huhn made it 0-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Fred Groneberg was left in no man's land by his defense there! After a defensive mix-up in Löveling's zone, Freddy Schmiedel stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Fred Groneberg came out of the goal and Freddy Schmiedel tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Marc Lettrari received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 10th minute. Jimmy Spieth tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Reimund Heim fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 12th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jimmy Spieth having to interfere. After a defensive mix-up in Löveling's zone, Harald Huhn stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Fred Groneberg came out of the goal and Harald Huhn tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After 25 minutes of play, Borussia Dortmund's Hubert Michalowicz made it 0-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Fred Groneberg was left in no man's land by his defense there! A collision led to Löveling getting a freekick after 28 minutes play. Erhard Westphal hit a great ball. Fred Groneberg showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Freddy Schmiedel in the 32nd minute of the match. After some fancy dribbling in the 36th minute, Freddy Schmiedel managed to get in a good position for a shot. Borussia Dortmund's supporters rose to their feet, but Freddy Schmiedel was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Fred Groneberg breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Marc Lettrari fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 39th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jimmy Spieth having to interfere. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-2.
Borussia Dortmund's Jimmy Spieth played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Marc Lettrari in the 57th minute of play. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Deniz Amstutz during the 58th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Jimmy Spieth stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Reimund Heim's shot from short distance in the 73rd minute. After 75 played minutes, Borussia Dortmund's Felix Alexis shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Fred Groneberg came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Borussia Dortmund reached it. Harald Huhn received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 78th minute. Borussia Dortmund walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
