In the 4thth minute of the game Heiko Lorenz who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Borussia Mönchengladbach's Johannes-Markus Goldsche was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. After a defensive mix-up in Niederwürzbach's zone, Christoph Eggers stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Jean Süßmair came out of the goal and Christoph Eggers tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Thanks to some nice moves Nils Felich could shoot a difficult shot in the 11th minute, which Johannes-Markus Goldsche however easily saved by the left post. Nils Felich in the 11thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Johannes-Markus Goldsche, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. After a rather tough play, Borussia Mönchengladbach's Alfons Achterdeck got a free kick in the 12th minute. If Harold Dietz had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 13th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. If Björn Lembke had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 16th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Niederwürzbach's Jean Süßmair played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Björn Lembke in the 17th minute of play. In the 18th match minute, Niederwürzbach was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Norman Scheringer to maneuver through the defense. 19 minutes into the game, Björn Lembke cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-1. Jean Süßmair was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. In the 22nd minute, Björn Lembke left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Borussia Mönchengladbach fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-2. With 25 minutes on the clock, Norman Scheringer commited a dangerous tackle. The referee had no choice but to show him the red card. In the 24th minute, one of Niederwürzbach:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Niederwürzbach. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Christoph Eggers during the 29th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Christoph Eggers hit a great freekick 29 minutes into the match. 32 minutes into the game, Christoph Eggers cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-4. Jean Süßmair was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Nils Felich recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 37th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 38th match minute, Borussia Mönchengladbach was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Antonio Hesselbach to maneuver through the defense. After 40 minutes, Davon Achteresch mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Niederwürzbach and the Borussia Mönchengladbach players grew even worse after the yellow card. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Christoph Eggers in the 42nd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Jean Süßmair saved Niederwürzbach from getting behind. Nils Felich might have been able to make a better finish in the 44th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Johannes-Markus Goldsche. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Nils Felich ran back to his position shaking his head. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-4.
When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Nils Felich made a kick off. In the 51st minute, Alfons Achterdeck hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Heiko Lorenz fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 53rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Johannes-Markus Goldsche having to interfere. Harold Dietz sent away a hard shot on goal in the 55th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Jean Süßmair took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Björn Lembke, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Jörgen Kirchmer could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 60th minute of the match, but Jean Süßmair made a huge save. In the 62nd minute Björn Lembke shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jean Süßmair saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Christoph Eggers could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 63rd minute of the match, but Jean Süßmair made a huge save. A collision led to Borussia Mönchengladbach getting a freekick after 67 minutes play. Hugh Arm hit a great ball. The audience thought a goal was coming when Christoph Eggers got free with Jean Süßmair in the 70th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Sven Krautmann hit a great freekick 77 minutes into the match. A collision led to Niederwürzbach getting a freekick after 78 minutes play. Harold Dietz hit a great ball. Jean Süßmair showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Björn Lembke, who was totally free with the ball in the 82nd minute. 86 minutes into the match, Nils Felich had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Johannes-Markus Goldsche. Borussia Mönchengladbach's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Nils Felich was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-4. Jean Süßmair made a fantastic save in the 92nd minute, when Christoph Eggers sent off a good shot on target. The crowd rose to their feet as Borussia Mönchengladbach's Björn Lembke slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Jean Süßmair. That made the score 1-5 after 95 minutes of play. The Niederwürzbach supporters were disappointed that their team didn't take anything from the match, despite matching Borussia Mönchengladbach's performance. The match ended with a win for Borussia Mönchengladbach.
