After a rather tough play, Ohlenfeld's Oscar Boshold got a free kick in the 16th minute. If Heinz Ansmann had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 17th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Rüdiger Kanters in the 19th minute of play forced FC Bad Cannstatt's goalkeeper Ibrahim Wieck to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 20 minutes of play, Ohlenfeld's Rüdiger Kanters made it 0-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Disappointed in the 0-4 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The wind increased when Rolf Hentschel made the kick off in the second half. Rolf Hentschel sent away a hard shot on goal in the 55th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. Ohlenfeld's fans were overjoyed with their teams well-earned victory and stayed in the stadium long after the final whistle to celebrate the win.
