SV Helsa's Axel Uhl played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Arpad Grobmaul in the 5th minute of play. A collision led to Wahnebergen FC getting a freekick after 8 minutes play. Jesper Osterkamp hit a great ball. SV Helsa's Carlos Malta was standing unmarked in front of the goal when he, in the 9th play minute, got the ball and easily drilled it into the goal. Wahnebergen FC's Richard Rihm proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 13th minute of the match, managed to save Wahnebergen FC from getting a goal against them. Richard Rihm took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Klaus-Dieter Kuhn, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Carlos Malta sent away a hard shot on goal in the 24th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. After a defensive mix-up in Wahnebergen FC's zone, Klaus-Dieter Kuhn stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Richard Rihm came out of the goal and Klaus-Dieter Kuhn tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 32 minutes into the game, Wahnebergen FC's Heinrich Göller nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Axel Uhl made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-1. In the 36th minute, Carlos Malta ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Richard Rihm was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-1. An unexpectedly hard shot by Carlos Malta in the 40th minute of play forced Wahnebergen FC's goalkeeper Richard Rihm to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Heinrich Göller scored 2-2 in the 47th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Axel Uhl, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Carlos Malta to strike the kick off in the second half. In the 55th minute, Osvaldo Urbes got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Axel Uhl made a fantastic save in the 64th minute, when Heinrich Göller sent off a good shot on target. In the 67th minute, Ilja Weikl got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Carlos Malta in the 69th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Richard Rihm prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Carlos Malta fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 71st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Richard Rihm having to interfere. After 74 played minutes Wahnebergen FC got a freekick which was hit by Mario Effertz. The referee felt a red card was in order, 76 minutes into the game, when Toralf Homann put in a rough tackle. In a very dangerous position, a player in SV Helsa fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 75th minute. Penalty! When SV Helsa's Carlos Malta in the 85th minute got a chance for a shot 85th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Wahnebergen FC's goalie prevented a goal. When Klaus-Dieter Kuhn came up free with the goalie in the 86th minute, the SV Helsa fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Klaus-Dieter Kuhn couldn't finish the play. Heinrich Göller who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 87thth minute tested the skills of Axel Uhl when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Arpad Grobmaul received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 89th minute. Axel Uhl tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. A collision led to Wahnebergen FC getting a freekick after 95 minutes play. Immanuel Vieten hit a great ball. 96 minutes into the match, SV Helsa's Napoleon Tipinski broke free and took a long shot that unfortunately flew wide. A fine initiative that could have resulted in a goal. Jeers came from both ends of the stadium when the final whistle went. Neither team had looked impressive and the draw seeemd a fair result.
