Lothar Picht blasted a shot towards the goal in the 3rd minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Menno Auchter having to make a save. If Sören Scheelen had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 4th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 5th minute, Lothar Picht left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Engelrod FC fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-1. Menno Auchter showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Sören Scheelen, who was totally free with the ball in the 11th minute. In the 14th match minute, Engelrod FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Leon Dorneth to maneuver through the defense. If Sebastian Winkels had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 21st minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Leon Dorneth kicked well hit freekick during the 23rd minute of the match. Immanuel Breitwieser took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Sebastian Winkels, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. TSG 1899 Hoffenheim's Armando Despang got a good chance for a goal in the 26th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. With a little luck, Engelrod FC's Immanuel Breitwieser got control of the ball when Philip Schröck tried to sneak it across the goal line. Menno Auchter showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Sören Scheelen, who was totally free with the ball in the 35th minute. Menno Auchter came out of the goal in the 36th minute to try and stop a shot by Engelrod FC's Lothar Picht. But to his dismay, Lothar Picht quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-2. An unexpectedly hard shot by Sören Scheelen in the 42nd minute of play forced TSG 1899 Hoffenheim's goalkeeper Menno Auchter to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Sebastian Winkels to make the kick off. Philip Schröck sent away a hard shot on goal in the 52nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. TSG 1899 Hoffenheim's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Albrecht Erkelenz in the 55th minute. The corner ended in Albrecht Erkelenz almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Engelrod FC's Immanuel Breitwieser did a great save. After a rather tough play, TSG 1899 Hoffenheim's Harald Knoke got a free kick in the 60th minute. In the 68th minute Sebastian Winkels shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Immanuel Breitwieser saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 71st minute the ball was on its way in behind TSG 1899 Hoffenheim's goalkeeper Menno Auchter, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Immanuel Breitwieser made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Philip Schröck in the 74th minute of play. Sebastian Winkels received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 78th minute. Immanuel Breitwieser tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After a rather tough play, TSG 1899 Hoffenheim's Armando Despang got a free kick in the 80th minute. 81 minutes into the match, TSG 1899 Hoffenheim's goalkeeper Menno Auchter had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Lothar Picht. After 83 minutes TSG 1899 Hoffenheim's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Ivan Krügers who took care of the corner kick. The corner led Engelrod FC's Ivan Krügers to fire away a dangerous shot which Menno Auchter despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. Philip Schröck scored 1-2 in the 85th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Immanuel Breitwieser, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. With a little luck, TSG 1899 Hoffenheim's Menno Auchter got control of the ball when Lothar Picht tried to sneak it across the goal line. Sören Scheelen fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 96th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Menno Auchter having to interfere. The TSG 1899 Hoffenheim fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. Engelrod FC were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
