Spectators: 7451 (Terracing: 5590, Seating: 1713, VIP seats: 148) The sun was shining, the grass was green and the audience cheered when Gisbert Beck got the match started through his kick off. Hirzenach FC's Friedrich Hunds played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Christoph Polzin in the 7th minute of play. Dietmar Kunter hit a great freekick 12 minutes into the match. Friedrich Hunds showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Herrmann Gutzler, who was totally free with the ball in the 18th minute. Hubert Buschkamp fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 26th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Perez Zensen having to interfere. In the 33rd minute, Hubert Buschkamp made a precise shot to the right of Perez Zensen. Hollenbeck FSV's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-0. Friedrich Hunds made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Herrmann Gutzler in the 38th minute of play. After having played for 39 minutes, Gisbert Beck managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Hirzenach FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Gisbert Beck was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal.

The wind increased when Christoph Polzin made the kick off in the second half. Hubert Buschkamp sent away a hard shot on goal in the 52nd minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. When Christoph Polzin came up free with the goalie in the 56th minute, the Hollenbeck FSV fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Christoph Polzin couldn't finish the play. After 57 played minutes Hirzenach FC got a freekick which was hit by Hansjörg Liebert. The crowd rose to their feet as Hollenbeck FSV's Christoph Polzin slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Friedrich Hunds. That made the score 1-2 after 58 minutes of play. Gisbert Beck received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 67th minute. Perez Zensen tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Christoph Polzin sent away a hard shot on goal in the 83rd minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Hansjörg Behnisch was astounded when the referee showed him the red card after a seemingly innocent challenge, 85 minutes into the match. After 85 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Hirzenach FC! When the match had been going on for 87 minutes, Hollenbeck FSV's Wolf Weigle got an opportunity to shoot a penalty. He stayed cool and waited for the goalkeeper to move, before he confidently shot the ball into the goal, to the left of Friedrich Hunds. In the 91st minute the ball was on its way in behind Hirzenach FC's goalkeeper Friedrich Hunds, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. The audience thought a goal was coming when Herrmann Gutzler got free with Friedrich Hunds in the 93rd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Hubert Buschkamp received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 95th minute. Perez Zensen tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 96th minute, Ole Per Amsoneit hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Hubert Buschkamp sent away a hard shot on goal in the 98th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. The Hollenbeck FSV supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Hollenbeck FSV would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
