The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Herrmann Gutzler sent away a hard shot on goal in the 3rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. A hard shot 6 in the game by Christoph Laukenmann from a close distance when the talented Perez Zensen managed to make a qualified save. Hollenbeck FSV's players were relieved. 10 minutes into the match, Rottne's goal looked a bit too open when Herrmann Gutzler came free, but Lucien Ackermann reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 12th minute, Herrmann Gutzler left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Hollenbeck FSV fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-1. Lucien Ackermann came out of the goal in the 24th minute to try and stop a shot by Hollenbeck FSV's Christoph Polzin. But to his dismay, Christoph Polzin quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-2. Guy Rust struck a weak shot in the 34th minute. Perez Zensen didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Rottne. When Christoph Laukenmann came up free with the goalie in the 35th minute, the Rottne fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Christoph Laukenmann couldn't finish the play. In the 43rd minute Christoph Polzin shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Lucien Ackermann saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-2 lead.

Lucien Ackermann made an important save on a dangerous shot by Till Teucke in the 53rd minute. In the 58th minute of the match Efraim Wuttke shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Lucien Ackermann showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Perez Zensen showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Christoph Laukenmann, who was totally free with the ball in the 60th minute. Rottne's defense didn't have a chance, in the 61st minute, when Till Teucke scored to the left of an out of position Lucien Ackermann, making the score, 0-3. Christoph Laukenmann might have been able to make a better finish in the 77th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Perez Zensen. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Christoph Laukenmann ran back to his position shaking his head. Guy Rust sent away a hard shot on goal in the 79th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Christoph Laukenmann received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 83rd minute. Perez Zensen tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Guy Rust had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 85th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 87 minutes into the game, Rottne's Christoph Laukenmann nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Perez Zensen made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-3. Guy Rust succeeded in the game's 90th minute to shoot an unreachable shot under the crossbar and scored - 2-3. Although Rottne had been in control for most of the match, Hollenbeck FSV still came away with the win.
