After a rather tough play, Aalen IF's Jann Bosch got a free kick in the 4th minute. 5 minutes into the match, Aalen IF's goalkeeper Fritz Labauve had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Till Teucke. Holger Harms might have been able to make a better finish in the 11th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Perez Zensen. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Holger Harms ran back to his position shaking his head. When Holger Harms came up free with the goalie in the 18th minute, the Aalen IF fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Holger Harms couldn't finish the play. With a little luck, Aalen IF's Fritz Labauve got control of the ball when Herrmann Gutzler tried to sneak it across the goal line. The audience thought a goal was coming when Till Teucke got free with Fritz Labauve in the 25th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Kim Hirt during the 27th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Kim Hirt hit a great freekick 27 minutes into the match. In the 32nd minute, Till Teucke made a precise shot to the right of Fritz Labauve. Aalen IF's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-0. In the 36th minute, Joseph Taghi Aghdiri got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Fritz Labauve took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Renato Sahin, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 40 minutes into the match, Holger Harms notched a goal, 1-1, to the right of Hollenbeck FSV's Perez Zensen. Perez Zensen was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. If Holger Harms had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 44th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After a defensive mix-up in Hollenbeck FSV's zone, Holger Harms stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Perez Zensen came out of the goal and Holger Harms tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

The wind increased when Herrmann Gutzler made the kick off in the second half. Aalen IF's attentive Nico Rebstrup managed to snatch the ball when Christoph Polzin made a throw-in in the 54th minute of the game. Perez Zensen showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ke Chang Hong, who was totally free with the ball in the 57th minute. If Kim Hirt had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 58th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Holger Harms fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 60th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Perez Zensen having to interfere. Nico Rebstrup in the 61stth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Perez Zensen, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. 70 minutes into the match, Hollenbeck FSV's goal looked a bit too open when Holger Harms came free, but Perez Zensen reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Joseph Taghi Aghdiri recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 71st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. If Nico Rebstrup had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 76th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After having played for 78 minutes, Holger Harms managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Aalen IF's supporters crossed their fingers, but Holger Harms was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 79 minutes into the match, Hollenbeck FSV's goalkeeper Perez Zensen had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Holger Harms. In the 81st minute, Herrmann Gutzler hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After some careless play in the Hollenbeck FSV defense, Holger Harms kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Perez Zensen. The Hollenbeck FSV fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Perez Zensen should have stopped the shot. In the 87th minute, Hollenbeck FSV's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Ke Chang Hong fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. Aalen IF played a much better game than Hollenbeck FSV and deserved their victory. The Hollenbeck FSV players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
