Seating: 1735, VIP seats: 150) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Ewald Rau started the match with the kick off. In the 3rd minute Ehrhard Hourani shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Remo Dörmann saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Luz Nehrbauer during the 6th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After a rather tough play, FC BMG's Luz Nehrbauer got a free kick in the 6th minute. Remo Dörmann made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ehrhard Hourani in the 9th minute of play. After 13 played minutes FC BMG got a freekick which was hit by Luka Kühlhorn. 14 minutes into the match, Gladbach's Sascha Reichwein broke free and took a long shot that unfortunately flew wide. A fine initiative that could have resulted in a goal. Ewald Rau recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 17th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 19th minute, Ehrhard Hourani left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Gladbach fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-1. 25 minutes into the game, Wanja Brocker was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. FC BMG's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Gladbach the free kick. Wanja Brocker hit a great freekick 25 minutes into the match. Ewald Rau sent away a hard shot on goal in the 26th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Ewald Rau struck a weak shot in the 31st minute. Remo Dörmann didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Gladbach. Dejan Lautemann charged in rather forcefully in the 32nd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Dejan Lautemann the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Gladbach's Ehrhard Hourani got a good chance for a goal in the 33rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. When Wanja Brocker was, once again, overly rough in his play he received his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. 36 minutes had been played. Wanja Brocker hit a great freekick 37 minutes into the match. After some fancy dribbling in the 44th minute, Ehrhard Hourani managed to get in a good position for a shot. Gladbach's supporters rose to their feet, but Ehrhard Hourani was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Remo Dörmann breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. 48 minutes into the game, Ehrhard Hourani cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-2. Remo Dörmann was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-2.
In the 55th minute Alfred Dressel shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Dietmar Gingold saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After a defensive mix-up in Gladbach's zone, Alfred Dressel stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Dietmar Gingold came out of the goal and Alfred Dressel tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After 57 minutes, Jochen Isser mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Gladbach and the FC BMG players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 57th match minute, Gladbach was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Jochen Isser to maneuver through the defense. Gladbach's Dietmar Gingold played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Alfred Dressel in the 60th minute of play. Ehrhard Hourani sent away a hard shot on goal in the 64th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When Ehrhard Hourani came up free with the goalie in the 68th minute, the Gladbach fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Ehrhard Hourani couldn't finish the play. If Ehrhard Hourani had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 71st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Jochen Issers short, quick shot in the 73rdth minute got Remo Dörmann to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. 77 minutes into the game, Ewald Rau was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Gladbach's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave FC BMG the free kick. Ewald Rau kicked well hit freekick during the 77th minute of the match. In the 79th minute, FC BMG's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Norbert Zerrinius fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. A hard shot 88 in the game by Ehrhard Hourani from a close distance when the talented Remo Dörmann managed to make a qualified save. FC BMG's players were relieved. With his leg Remo Dörmann managed to avoid a goal in the 89thth minute, when Gladbach's Ehrhard Hourani fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. In the 90th minute, Norbert Zerrinius hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Remo Dörmann made an important save on a dangerous shot by Ehrhard Hourani in the 92nd minute. After a defensive mix-up in FC BMG's zone, Jochen Isser stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Remo Dörmann came out of the goal and Jochen Isser tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After a rather tough play, FC BMG's Luz Nehrbauer got a free kick in the 94th minute. Ehrhard Hourani received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 97th minute. Remo Dörmann tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The FC BMG fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. Gladbach were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
