The Vorwerk Resse fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Benny Bollwächter should have stopped the shot. Jürgen Wienecke took the ball and in the 26 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Benny Bollwächter. Benny Bollwächter dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-2. Frans Kuhlmann kicked well hit freekick during the 33rd minute of the match. After 36 minutes of play, 1.FC Union Berlin's Jürgen Wienecke made it 0-4 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Benny Bollwächter was left in no man's land by his defense there! Benny Bollwächter showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Dittmar Strich in the 44th minute of the match. Benny Bollwächter made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Jürgen Wienecke in the 45th minute of play. After the first half 1.FC Union Berlin were leading 0-5. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The wind increased when Luigi Sellmer made the kick off in the second half. A hard shot 55 in the game by Dittmar Strich from a close distance when the talented Benny Bollwächter managed to make a qualified save. Vorwerk Resse's players were relieved. Dittmar Strich's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Benny Bollwächter firmly grabbed it by the left post. If Luigi Sellmer had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 62nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. A collision led to Vorwerk Resse getting a freekick after 73 minutes play. Bodo Seibel hit a great ball. After 77 minutes of play, 1.FC Union Berlin's Ergün Erler made it 1-7 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Benny Bollwächter was left in no man's land by his defense there! With a little luck, Vorwerk Resse's Benny Bollwächter got control of the ball when Mischa Simpson tried to sneak it across the goal line. A collision led to Vorwerk Resse getting a freekick after 83 minutes play. Thaddäus Behloch hit a great ball. Benny Bollwächter made a fantastic save in the 86th minute, when Ergün Erler sent off a good shot on target. The audience thought a goal was coming when Ergün Erler got free with Benny Bollwächter in the 89th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 90th minute, Dittmar Strich left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The 1.FC Union Berlin fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-8. Vorwerk Resse's Benny Bollwächter proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 94th minute of the match, managed to save Vorwerk Resse from getting a goal against them. The Vorwerk Resse fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. 1.FC Union Berlin were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
