Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) It was fairly windy and cold on the field when Gordon Reumann kicked off to start the match. Dustin Ondraczek made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-0. After 14 played minutes FC Colchester got a freekick which was hit by Manuel Manske. In a very dangerous position, a player in FC Colchester fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 17th minute. Penalty! FC Colchester:s Götz Schikorra showed great skill when he stopped Paul Zerrinius:s penalty. Götz Schikorra came out of the goal in the 19th minute to try and stop a shot by Blau-Weiß Paderborn's Paul Zerrinius. But to his dismay, Paul Zerrinius quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-1. An unexpectedly hard shot by Gordon Reumann in the 29th minute of play forced Blau-Weiß Paderborn's goalkeeper Dustin Ondraczek to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In a very dangerous position, a player in Blau-Weiß Paderborn fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 30th minute. Penalty! Domenico Genau placed the ball on the penalty spot and got himself ready to shoot. Post out! Martin Steinmüller's late challenge caught a FC Colchester's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Martin Steinmüller helped the player get up and apologised. In the 32nd minute, Martin Steinmüller hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Erko Kobel who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 33rdth minute tested the skills of Dustin Ondraczek when he managed to save the team from getting behind. 35 minutes into the match, Blau-Weiß Paderborn's goal looked a bit too open when Gordon Reumann came free, but Dustin Ondraczek reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Gordon Reumann struck a weak shot in the 43rd minute. Dustin Ondraczek didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for FC Colchester. The supporters of FC Colchester booed when Blau-Weiß Paderborn was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 44 match minutes in a wonderful position. Enrique Hock didn't get a good kick on the ball. The first half was very even, with the score at 1-1 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

When Anselm Baumjohann fell near the penalty area in the 54th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored FC Colchester's protests and gave Anselm Baumjohann a yellow card for diving instead. In the 54th match minute, FC Colchester was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Anselm Baumjohann to maneuver through the defense. After a rather tough play, Blau-Weiß Paderborn's Simon Machold got a free kick in the 60th minute. 63 minutes into the match, Manuel Manske notched a goal, 2-1, to the right of Blau-Weiß Paderborn's Dustin Ondraczek. Dustin Ondraczek was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. In the 70th minute Gordon Reumann shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Dustin Ondraczek saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 79 minutes of play, FC Colchester's Gordon Reumann made it 3-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Dustin Ondraczek was left in no man's land by his defense there! Erko Kobel recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 84th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Dustin Ondraczek showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Erko Kobel, who was totally free with the ball in the 91st minute. Gordon Reumann received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 95th minute. Dustin Ondraczek tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. FC Colchester's supporters were delighted with their team's performance and swarmed onto the pitch at the end of the match to celebrate the victory with the players.
