The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Thorsten Becker showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Andreas Homolka in the 3rd minute of the match. Andreas Homolka kicked well hit freekick during the 5th minute of the match. Dragan Kömm fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 7th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Adam Barkow having to interfere. 1.FC Vorwärts's Adam Barkow played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Dragan Kömm in the 15th minute of play. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Dragan Kömm in the 24th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Adam Barkow prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Sönke Grupe kicked well hit freekick during the 25th minute of the match. 26 minutes into the match, FSV Harz Thale's goal looked a bit too open when Andreas Homolka came free, but Thorsten Becker reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Arno Zerr in the 37th minute of play forced FSV Harz Thale's goalkeeper Thorsten Becker to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Dragan Kömm in the 39th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Adam Barkow prevented the ball from getting in the gole. After 45 played minutes 1.FC Vorwärts got a freekick which was hit by Thies Thoma. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 1-0.

The audience was convinced that Dragan Kömm's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Adam Barkow was relentless in the 56th minute of the game. After a defensive mix-up in 1.FC Vorwärts's zone, Karel Brockes stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Adam Barkow came out of the goal and Karel Brockes tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The supporters of FSV Harz Thale booed when 1.FC Vorwärts was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 74 match minutes in a wonderful position. Thies Thoma didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 75th minute, Dragan Kömm ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Adam Barkow was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-0. Andreas Homolka hit a great freekick 79 minutes into the match. Dragan Kömm received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 81st minute. Adam Barkow tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Adam Barkow showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Karel Brockes in the 90th minute of the match. Karel Brockes recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 92nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 94th minute, Dragan Kömm got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. FSV Harz Thale walked away with a well-earned victory that was much celebrated by the crowd.
