When the match had gone on for 3 minutes, Steffen Horsch put it in 0-1 from a short distance just to the right of Henning Bartz. An unexpectedly hard shot by Andreas Dörfler in the 6th minute of play forced Bahrenfeld FSV's goalkeeper Placido Heermann to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Steffen Kretz received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 10th minute. Henning Bartz tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Henning Bartz showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Steffen Kretz in the 12th minute of the match. 13 minutes into the match, Schalke 04's goal looked a bit too open when Florian Junker came free, but Henning Bartz reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Kilian Bogner hit a great freekick 14 minutes into the match. Atze Stiller sent away a hard shot on goal in the 16th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 24th match minute, Bahrenfeld FSV was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Wolfram Langer to maneuver through the defense. In the 25th minute of the match Esau Budden sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Placido Heermann skillfully saved the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Andreas Dörfler in the 30th minute of play forced Bahrenfeld FSV's goalkeeper Placido Heermann to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Florian Junker sent away a hard shot on goal in the 33rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Henning Bartz stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Florian Junker's shot from short distance in the 34th minute. Florian Junker fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 39th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Henning Bartz having to interfere. If Steffen Kretz had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 42nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Placido Heermann made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Andreas Dörfler in the 44th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Andreas Dörfler in the 47th minute of play forced Bahrenfeld FSV's goalkeeper Placido Heermann to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-2 lead.

Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Henning Gallois in the 51st minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Placido Heermann prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Steffen Kretz recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 52nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. If Florian Junker had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 55th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Henning Bartz made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Steffen Kretz in the 63rd minute of play. When Carl Eckardt fell near the penalty area in the 65th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Bahrenfeld FSV's protests and gave Carl Eckardt a yellow card for diving instead. After 65 played minutes Bahrenfeld FSV got a freekick which was hit by Carl Eckardt. In the 66th minute, Henning Gallois left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Schalke 04 fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-3. Through an outstanding action, after 69 minutes, Henning Bartz successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. 70 minutes into the game, Kilian Bogner was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Schalke 04's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Bahrenfeld FSV the free kick. After a rather tough play, Schalke 04's Kilian Bogner got a free kick in the 70th minute. After 75 played minutes Bahrenfeld FSV got a freekick which was hit by Wolfram Langer. Placido Heermann made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Andreas Dörfler in the 94th minute of play. 95 minutes into the match, Henning Gallois notched a goal, 3-3, to the right of Bahrenfeld FSV's Placido Heermann. Placido Heermann was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. The Bahrenfeld FSV players were the happier at the end of the match as they had prevented Schalke 04 from taking control. The game ends in a draw.
