An unexpectedly hard shot by Gero Beckhaus in the 17th minute of play forced Schierlage's goalkeeper Finn Kühne to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The audience thought a goal was coming when Meikel Fleischer got free with Finn Kühne in the 95th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Finn Kühne showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Günter Huwe, who was totally free with the ball in the 96th minute. When the match was over Frankfurt SGE could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Schierlage throughout the match.
