Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) It was fairly windy and cold on the field when Florian Junker kicked off to start the match. Schalke 04's Henning Bartz proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 4th minute of the match, managed to save Schalke 04 from getting a goal against them. If Florian Junker had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 10th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After some fancy dribbling in the 13th minute, Kilian Bogner managed to get in a good position for a shot. Schalke 04's supporters rose to their feet, but Kilian Bogner was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Placido Heermann breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The supporters of Schalke 04 booed when Bahrenfeld FSV was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 13 match minutes in a wonderful position. Christian Heise didn't get a good kick on the ball. If Andreas Dörfler had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 19th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. 21 minutes into the match, Bahrenfeld FSV's goal looked a bit too open when Andreas Dörfler came free, but Placido Heermann reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Placido Heermann showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Andreas Dörfler, who was totally free with the ball in the 24th minute. After 26 minutes, Steffen Kretz mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Bahrenfeld FSV and the Schalke 04 players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 26th match minute, Bahrenfeld FSV was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Steffen Kretz to maneuver through the defense. After 28 minutes of play, Bahrenfeld FSV's Florian Junker made it 1-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Henning Bartz was left in no man's land by his defense there! Georg Appelt fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 31st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Henning Bartz having to interfere. 35 minutes into the match, Bahrenfeld FSV's goal looked a bit too open when Kilian Bogner came free, but Placido Heermann reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Hans Künzer during the 38th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Hans Künzer kicked well hit freekick during the 38th minute of the match. Henning Bartz made an important save on a dangerous shot by Georg Appelt in the 40th minute. With 41 minutes on the clock, Raffael Mühlfenzl commited a dangerous tackle. The referee had no choice but to show him the red card. In the 40th minute, one of Bahrenfeld FSV:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Bahrenfeld FSV. The referee gave Schalke 04 a penalty, 43 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Esau Budden, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of Bahrenfeld FSV's Placido Heermann. 1-2. Kilian Bogner took the ball and in the 46 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Placido Heermann. Placido Heermann dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-3. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 1-3.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Andreas Dörfler to strike the kick off in the second half. An unexpectedly hard shot by Andreas Dörfler in the 53rd minute of play forced Bahrenfeld FSV's goalkeeper Placido Heermann to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Placido Heermann made a fantastic save in the 55th minute, when Henning Gallois sent off a good shot on target. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Andreas Dörfler during the 57th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. A collision led to Schalke 04 getting a freekick after 57 minutes play. Andreas Dörfler hit a great ball. When Steffen Horsch came up free with the goalie in the 60th minute, the Bahrenfeld FSV fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Steffen Horsch couldn't finish the play. In the 62nd minute Andreas Dörfler shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Placido Heermann saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Henning Gallois could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 66th minute of the match, but Placido Heermann made a huge save. Schalke 04's Henning Bartz played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Steffen Horsch in the 67th minute of play. 70 minutes into the game, Andreas Dörfler cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-4. Placido Heermann was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. After 72 played minutes Schalke 04 got a freekick which was hit by Kilian Bogner. Henning Bartz made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Steffen Horsch in the 73rd minute of play. In the 76th minute Andreas Dörfler shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Placido Heermann saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Andreas Dörfler received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Placido Heermann came out and tried to block the shot, but Andreas Dörfler slotted it home off the left post making it 1-5 in the 79th minute. Placido Heermann made an important save on a dangerous shot by Henning Gallois in the 85th minute. 86 minutes into the game, Schalke 04's Andreas Dörfler nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Placido Heermann made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-6. After 91 played minutes Bahrenfeld FSV got a freekick which was hit by Georg Appelt. Placido Heermann showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Andreas Dörfler in the 94th minute of the match. Bahrenfeld FSV's Placido Heermann played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Andreas Dörfler in the 96th minute of play. The Schalke 04 supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Schalke 04 would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
