Erik Frölich's late challenge caught a Marvin 1904's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Erik Frölich helped the player get up and apologised. A collision led to Hamme getting a freekick after 20 minutes play. Erik Frölich hit a great ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Christoph Damm in the 22nd minute of play forced Marvin 1904's goalkeeper Dittmar Zimmermann to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Joseph Jork sent away a hard shot on goal in the 24th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. If Zoran Breneizeris had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 27th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 30th minute, Erhard Harloff got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Marvin 1904's Dittmar Zimmermann played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Christoph Damm in the 34th minute of play. Erhard Harloff fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 37th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Joschi Bucher having to interfere. Erhard Harloff sent away a hard shot on goal in the 39th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

With an all-out effort, Hamme's Dittmar Zimmermann threw himself towards the right post 57 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Christoph Damm, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. In the 58th minute Pitt Heyse shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Dittmar Zimmermann saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The supporters of Marvin 1904 booed when Hamme was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 92 match minutes in a wonderful position. Niko Kofler didn't get a good kick on the ball. The player immediately received a yellow card. Christoph Damm kicked well hit freekick during the 96th minute of the match. It was no surprise that this one had ended in a win for the home team. Marvin 1904 had played much better football throughout.
