Spectators: 7506 (Terracing: 5630, Seating: 1726, VIP seats: 150) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Fabian Kanzleiter started the match with the kick off. After 7 played minutes, Real Madrid's Jaap Schweßinger shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Helge Esch came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Real Madrid reached it. Helge Esch made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Dietz Reder in the 13th minute of play. 14 minutes into the game, Helmut Behnisch recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Peter Biehlert. Helmut Behnisch showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 1-0. 17 minutes in the game, the ball went up into the seats when FC Schnolli's Zlatko Kröger fired away a shot that was just a little bit too high. He walked away shaking his head. In the 27th minute, Eugen Rille hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 29th minute of the match Jaap Schweßinger sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Helge Esch skillfully saved the ball. After 29 played minutes FC Schnolli got a freekick which was hit by Ivan Thomale. 32 minutes into the match, Dietz Reder notched a goal, 1-1, to the right of FC Schnolli's Helge Esch. Helge Esch was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. If Fabian Kanzleiter had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 39th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Fabian Kanzleiter's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Helge Esch read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 41st minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Fabian Kanzleiter in the 43rd minute of play forced FC Schnolli's goalkeeper Helge Esch to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Simon Gerloff hit a great freekick 47 minutes into the match.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Helmut Behnisch to make the kick off. Helge Esch made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Fabian Kanzleiter in the 54th minute of play. FC Schnolli's Helge Esch played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Fabian Kanzleiter in the 56th minute of play. Dietz Reder's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Helge Esch read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 61st minute of play. Helge Esch showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Fabian Kanzleiter, who was totally free with the ball in the 64th minute. Helge Esch was out of position in the 65 minute of play, and Dietz Reder capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Dietz Reder really showed his touch with that goal: 1-2. The supporters of FC Schnolli booed when Real Madrid was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 68 match minutes in a wonderful position. Raimund Berner didn't get a good kick on the ball. Fabian Kanzleiter took the ball and in the 73 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Helge Esch. Helge Esch dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-3. Raimund Berner kicked well hit freekick during the 81st minute of the match. 83 minutes into the game, Fabian Kanzleiter cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-4. Helge Esch was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Dietz Reder sent away a hard shot on goal in the 86th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 88th minute, Fabian Kanzleiter fired away a shot on goal. He put a little to much spin on the ball and sent it just wide of the right post. The crowd rose to their feet as Fabian Kanzleiter kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Helge Esch. That made the score 1-5 in the 90 minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Fabian Kanzleiter in the 95th minute of play forced FC Schnolli's goalkeeper Helge Esch to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Real Madrid's fans were overjoyed with their teams well-earned victory and stayed in the stadium long after the final whistle to celebrate the win.
