Gittelde FSV's supporters rose to their feet, but Peter Kürten was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Theo Aumüller breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. When Gittelde FSV's Christopher Ellinghaus in the 36th minute got a chance for a shot 36th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Bielefelder Jungs's goalie prevented a goal. Gennaro Wiesemann made a fantastic save in the 40th minute, when Uwe Cremer sent off a good shot on target. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-1 lead.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Leon Artmann stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. After 50 played minutes Bielefelder Jungs got a freekick which was hit by Gerald Lingnau. If Uwe Cremer had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 54th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After a rather tough play, Bielefelder Jungs's Bernhard Kosner got a free kick in the 55th minute. Peter Kürten recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 56th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Uwe Cremer sent away a hard shot on goal in the 63rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When Fatmir Schmaltz fell near the penalty area in the 66th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Gittelde FSV's protests and gave Fatmir Schmaltz a yellow card for diving instead. After 66 played minutes Gittelde FSV got a freekick which was hit by Fatmir Schmaltz. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Bernhard Kosner during the 70th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After 70 played minutes Bielefelder Jungs got a freekick which was hit by Bernhard Kosner. Gennaro Wiesemann showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Uwe Cremer, who was totally free with the ball in the 73rd minute. Jens Recht took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 79th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Theo Aumüller. Bielefelder Jungs's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. If Uwe Cremer had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 87th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 93rdth minute of the game Leon Artmann who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Gittelde FSV's Gennaro Wiesemann was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. The Gittelde FSV supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Gittelde FSV would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
