After some fancy dribbling in the 5th minute, Marcel Barges managed to get in a good position for a shot. Backenberg's supporters rose to their feet, but Marcel Barges was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Wesley Teupel breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Emilio Thomaschewski kicked well hit freekick during the 8th minute of the match. A collision led to Backenberg getting a freekick after 11 minutes play. Ulf Stein hit a great ball. Elters's Florian Wolber got a good chance for a goal in the 13th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Oliver Noak didn't succeed in stopping the ball in the 23rd minute, which inside left pole to 1-1. Elters's Wesley Teupel played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Marcel Barges in the 30th minute of play. 2-1 became the score in the 32nd minute when Florian Wolber elegantly shot the ball into goal just under the crossbar. Wesley Teupel showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Ismael Meister in the 37th minute of the match. 39 minutes into the game, Backenberg's Marcel Barges nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. The Elters fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Wesley Teupel should have stopped the shot.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Florian Wolber was the one to do the kick off. After 53 minutes, Fredi Aichler mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Elters and the Backenberg players grew even worse after the yellow card.
