After a defensive mix-up in FC Union Mühlhausen's zone, Fidel Berner stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Elmar Bordorf came out of the goal and Fidel Berner tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Fidel Berner received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 6th minute. Elmar Bordorf tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Richard Hoff sent away a hard shot on goal in the 10th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Viktor Tochtermann kicked well hit freekick during the 11th minute of the match. The audience thought a goal was coming when Jan Kubica got free with Henning Meyer in the 23rd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 25th match minute, Melusinental was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Tino Heusmann to maneuver through the defense. After some fancy dribbling in the 27th minute, Ulf Kozub managed to get in a good position for a shot. FC Union Mühlhausen's supporters rose to their feet, but Ulf Kozub was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Henning Meyer breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. 29 minutes into the match, Fidel Berner had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Elmar Bordorf. FC Union Mühlhausen's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Fidel Berner was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-1. In the 34th match minute, Melusinental was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Tino Heusmann to maneuver through the defense. Bo Söhner kicked well hit freekick during the 35th minute of the match. In the 35th minute, FC Union Mühlhausen's Bo Söhner fired away a free kick that almost went in the goal. Henning Meyer was prepared for the shot, but didn't have to make a play as the shot flew over the goal. 39 minutes into the game, Fidel Berner was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Melusinental's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave FC Union Mühlhausen the free kick. A collision led to Melusinental getting a freekick after 39 minutes play. Fidel Berner hit a great ball. Fidel Berner received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 45th minute. Elmar Bordorf tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 2-1 at half-time.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Ulf Kozub to make the kick off. Melusinental's Henning Meyer played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ulf Kozub in the 53rd minute of play. In the 56th minute, Fidel Berner got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After a defensive mix-up in FC Union Mühlhausen's zone, Richard Hoff stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Elmar Bordorf came out of the goal and Richard Hoff tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Elmar Bordorf made an important save on a dangerous shot by Richard Hoff in the 69th minute. Knud Lausberg hit a great freekick 70 minutes into the match. Bo Söhner took the ball and in the 76 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Henning Meyer. Henning Meyer dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 3-2. In the 80th minute Ulf Kozub shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Henning Meyer saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Fidel Berner in the 81stth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Elmar Bordorf, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. Henning Meyer stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Bo Söhner's shot from short distance in the 86th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Toralf Abertonnen in the 91st minute of play forced Melusinental's goalkeeper Henning Meyer to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. FC Union Mühlhausen's Toralf Abertonnen got a good chance for a goal in the 93rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. 95 minutes into the match, Melusinental's goal looked a bit too open when Jan Kubica came free, but Henning Meyer reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. FC Union Mühlhausen's supporters were highly satisfied with the result. They cheered their team of the pitch, having watched them win a very even match.
