Steffen Feuerstein could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 19th minute of the match, but Ede Blüher made a huge save. 20 minutes into the match, SV Darmstadt 98's goal looked a bit too open when Daniel Maurer came free, but Artur Kopplin reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 22 minutes into the game, SV Darmstadt 98's Steffen Feuerstein nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Ede Blüher made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-0. Steffen Feuerstein might have been able to make a better finish in the 25th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Ede Blüher. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Steffen Feuerstein ran back to his position shaking his head. In the 25th minute Helmut Heeringa shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ede Blüher saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. SV KAYZ's Ede Blüher proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 28th minute of the match, managed to save SV KAYZ from getting a goal against them. After a defensive mix-up in SV Darmstadt 98's zone, Carsten Kaehlitz stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Artur Kopplin came out of the goal and Carsten Kaehlitz tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. SV KAYZ's Ede Blüher played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Helmut Heeringa in the 38th minute of play. Ede Blüher made a fantastic save in the 39th minute, when Steffen Feuerstein sent off a good shot on target. When SV KAYZ's Daniel Maurer in the 44th minute got a chance for a shot 44th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye SV Darmstadt 98's goalie prevented a goal. Steffen Bracke's late challenge caught a SV Darmstadt 98's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Steffen Bracke helped the player get up and apologised. In the 59th match minute, SV KAYZ was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Steffen Bracke to maneuver through the defense. Ede Blüher took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Helmut Heeringa, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side.
