Jan Kubica hit a great freekick 3 minutes into the match. fc-augustin's Fritz Rudolf Bieling got a good chance for a goal in the 4th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Fritz Rudolf Bieling who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 13thth minute tested the skills of Elmar Bordorf when he managed to save the team from getting behind. After 17 played minutes FC Union Mühlhausen got a freekick which was hit by Ullrich Körper. A collision led to fc-augustin getting a freekick after 19 minutes play. Manfred Lazarus hit a great ball. Ulf Kozub sent away a hard shot on goal in the 22nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After a defensive mix-up in FC Union Mühlhausen's zone, Manfred Lazarus stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Elmar Bordorf came out of the goal and Manfred Lazarus tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 26 minutes into the match, fc-augustin's goal looked a bit too open when Ulf Kozub came free, but Timm Abernett reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Elmar Bordorf made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Manfred Lazarus in the 28th minute of play. fc-augustin were awarded a corner in the 30th minute after FC Union Mühlhausen's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Lester Lammers took the corner. After taking down the ball on fc-augustin's corner Tasso Melcher fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Elmar Bordorf quite easily take care of the ball. The audience thought a goal was coming when Fritz Rudolf Bieling got free with Elmar Bordorf in the 34th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 46th minute, Ulf Kozub ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Timm Abernett was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-1. The score stood at 1-1 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Manfred Lazarus to strike the kick off in the second half. 55 minutes into the match, FC Union Mühlhausen's goal looked a bit too open when Fritz Rudolf Bieling came free, but Elmar Bordorf reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 57 minutes into the game, Fritz Rudolf Bieling cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 2-1. Elmar Bordorf was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Knud Lausberg took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 61st minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Timm Abernett. fc-augustin's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. After having played for 62 minutes, Ulf Kozub managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. FC Union Mühlhausen's supporters crossed their fingers, but Ulf Kozub was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. fc-augustin's defense didn't have a chance, in the 64th minute, when Toralf Abertonnen scored to the left of an out of position Timm Abernett, making the score, 2-2. Ulf Kozub's late challenge caught a fc-augustin's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Ulf Kozub helped the player get up and apologised. Ulf Kozub kicked well hit freekick during the 70th minute of the match. In the 75th minute, Bo Söhner hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Elmar Bordorf took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Fritz Rudolf Bieling, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. An unexpectedly hard shot by Fritz Rudolf Bieling in the 83rd minute of play forced FC Union Mühlhausen's goalkeeper Elmar Bordorf to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. fc-augustin's Timm Abernett played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Bo Söhner in the 84th minute of play. Timm Abernett showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ulf Kozub, who was totally free with the ball in the 88th minute. After a rather tough play, FC Union Mühlhausen's Toralf Abertonnen got a free kick in the 95th minute. FC Union Mühlhausen were disappointed that they only managed a draw, even though they felt themselves to be the better team.
