The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Ismail Schmid sent away a hard shot on goal in the 20th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After some fancy dribbling in the 22nd minute, Alfons Wüllbier managed to get in a good position for a shot. FC Bayern's supporters rose to their feet, but Alfons Wüllbier was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Felix Schröder breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Felix Schröder stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Edgar Slesar's shot from short distance in the 23rd minute. In the 26th minute Kurt-Jürgen Wissler shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Mo Leffek saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Daniel Pähle charged in rather forcefully in the 33rd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Daniel Pähle the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. A collision led to FC Bayern getting a freekick after 33 minutes play. Mo Leffek made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Kurt-Jürgen Wissler in the 37th minute of play. In the 38th match minute, FC Bayern was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Daniel Pähle to maneuver through the defense. Mo Leffek showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Kurt-Jürgen Wissler in the 42nd minute of the match. When Ismail Schmid fell near the penalty area in the 43rd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored FC Bayern's protests and gave Ismail Schmid a yellow card for diving instead. After a rather tough play, FC Bayern's Ismail Schmid got a free kick in the 43rd minute. After the first half FC Bayern were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The wind increased when Edgar Slesar made the kick off in the second half. 51 minutes into the game, Kurt-Jürgen Wissler cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-1. Mo Leffek was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. After a defensive mix-up in Berlin's zone, Alfons Wüllbier stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Felix Schröder came out of the goal and Alfons Wüllbier tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Alfons Wüllbier might have been able to make a better finish in the 57th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Felix Schröder. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Alfons Wüllbier ran back to his position shaking his head. Edgar Slesar recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 59th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. A collision led to Berlin getting a freekick after 60 minutes play. Trutz Poreski hit a great ball. After having played for 62 minutes, Alfons Wüllbier managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. FC Bayern's supporters crossed their fingers, but Alfons Wüllbier was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. A sloppy throw-in by Michael Künzer in the 93rd minute of the game went astray and was snapped up by FC Bayern's Ismail Schmid. After some careless play in the Berlin defense, Ismail Schmid kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Felix Schröder. The Berlin fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Felix Schröder should have stopped the shot. When the match was over FC Bayern could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Berlin throughout the match.
