Finn Obst spun around in front of the goal 35 minutes in the game, and got away a shot that, to his disappointment, went to the left of 1.FC Union Berlin's goal. The audience thought a goal was coming when Boris Schowanek got free with Michael Schraier in the 36th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. The supporters of 1.FC Magdeburg booed when 1.FC Union Berlin was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 37 match minutes in a wonderful position. Edzard Werling didn't get a good kick on the ball.
