Carsten Freeh tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 18th minute, Christoph Merseburger hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 19 minutes into the match, FC Schalke 04 Alf's goalkeeper Carsten Freeh had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Leopold Andrade. The crowd rose to their feet as Dietmar Timm kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Carsten Freeh. That made the score 2-0 in the 21 minute of play. After having played for 30 minutes, Dietmar Timm managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Rückmarsdorf FSV's supporters crossed their fingers, but Dietmar Timm was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 31st minute, Christoph Merseburger hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Christoph Merseburger fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 34th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Daniel Lohmüller having to interfere. The audience thought a goal was coming when Leopold Andrade got free with Carsten Freeh in the 36th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Leopold Andrade fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 41st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Carsten Freeh having to interfere. Dietmar Timm sent away a hard shot on goal in the 45th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 2-0 at half-time.

The wind increased when Dietmar Timm made the kick off in the second half. Daniel Lohmüller came out of the goal in the 52nd minute to try and stop a shot by FC Schalke 04 Alf's Christoph Merseburger. But to his dismay, Christoph Merseburger quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-1. Rückmarsdorf FSV's Dietmar Timm got a good chance for a goal in the 55th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Carsten Freeh took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Leopold Andrade, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 62nd minute Leopold Andrade shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Carsten Freeh saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Carsten Freeh came out of the goal in the 66th minute to try and stop a shot by Rückmarsdorf FSV's Eddi Weyer. But to his dismay, Eddi Weyer quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 3-1. Leopold Andrade blasted a shot towards the goal in the 71st minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Carsten Freeh having to make a save. Dietmar Timm fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 75th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Carsten Freeh having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Heino Treiber in the 79th minute of play forced Rückmarsdorf FSV's goalkeeper Daniel Lohmüller to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Carsten Freeh made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Dietmar Timm in the 81st minute of play. After 84 minutes of play, Rückmarsdorf FSV's Leopold Andrade made it 4-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Carsten Freeh was left in no man's land by his defense there! If Leopold Andrade had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 92nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. FC Schalke 04 Alf's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
