Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) FC Hamburg's Jakob Goebel started the match with a crisp pass. The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Wilhelm Küpper made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Enno Chille in the 3rd minute of play. FC Hamburg's Freddi Wering suffered a sore thigh after 8 minutes and couldn't finish the game. After 8 minutes, Kostja Sass mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Biersdorf and the FC Hamburg players grew even worse after the yellow card. FC Hamburg made a substitution. Mario Duin replaced Freddi Wering. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Jakob Goebel in the 11th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Nestor Makhno prevented the ball from getting in the gole. When the match clock showed 11 minutes, the score became 0-1 when Jakob Goebel sped through Biersdorf's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Nestor Makhno. Wilhelm Küpper showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Marco Dickopf in the 16th minute of the match. With an all-out effort, Biersdorf's Wilhelm Küpper threw himself towards the right post 17 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Enno Chille, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. When Mario Duin fell near the penalty area in the 22nd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored FC Hamburg's protests and gave Mario Duin a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of Biersdorf booed when FC Hamburg was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 22 match minutes in a wonderful position. Mario Duin didn't get a good kick on the ball. Marco Dickopf hit a great freekick 23 minutes into the match. When FC Hamburg's Jakob Goebel in the 36th minute got a chance for a shot 36th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Biersdorf's goalie prevented a goal. After a defensive mix-up in Biersdorf's zone, Mario Duin stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Mario Duin received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 38th minute. Nestor Makhno tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Marco Dickopf kicked well hit freekick during the 47th minute of the match. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

After having played for 52 minutes, Mario Duin managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. FC Hamburg's supporters crossed their fingers, but Mario Duin was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Wilhelm Küpper took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Enno Chille, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Jakob Goebel received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 55th minute. Nestor Makhno tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Berti Reents made in the 57th minute of the game a sloppy throw-in which Sven Beilstein however managed to control. A collision led to Biersdorf getting a freekick after 59 minutes play. Mátyás Balázs hit a great ball. Jakob Goebel in the 60thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Nestor Makhno, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. Mátyás Balázs recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 62nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Jakob Goebel who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 65thth minute tested the skills of Nestor Makhno when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Enno Chille took the ball and in the 67 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Wilhelm Küpper. Wilhelm Küpper dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-2. Sören Pletz might have been able to make a better finish in the 69th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Wilhelm Küpper. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Sören Pletz ran back to his position shaking his head. Enno Chille received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 72nd minute. Wilhelm Küpper tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Enno Chille fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 74th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Wilhelm Küpper having to interfere. Biersdorf's Enno Chille got a good chance for a goal in the 81st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Jakob Goebel might have been able to make a better finish in the 89th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Nestor Makhno. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Jakob Goebel ran back to his position shaking his head. After a defensive mix-up in Biersdorf's zone, Jakob Goebel stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Nestor Makhno came out of the goal and Jakob Goebel tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Biersdorf fans cheered their team off the field, for while FC Hamburg had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
