The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. An unexpectedly hard shot by Oswald Löw in the 5th minute of play forced Biersdorf's goalkeeper Nestor Makhno to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Biersdorf's Nestor Makhno played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Gianluca Beyer in the 11th minute of play. A collision led to Biersdorf getting a freekick after 12 minutes play. Götz Belger hit a great ball. 16 minutes into the match, Biersdorf's goal looked a bit too open when Gianluca Beyer came free, but Nestor Makhno reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 16th minute Gianluca Beyer shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Nestor Makhno saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 18 minutes into the game, Anthony Bakunin was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Lüneburger SK's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Biersdorf the free kick. In the 18th match minute, Lüneburger SK was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Anthony Bakunin to maneuver through the defense. Biersdorf's Enno Chille was standing unmarked in front of the goal when he, in the 19th play minute, got the ball and easily drilled it into the goal. Nestor Makhno showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Gianluca Beyer in the 23rd minute of the match. 25 minutes into the game, Lüneburger SK's Lutger Hennig nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Nestor Makhno made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-1. Nestor Makhno made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Oswald Löw in the 30th minute of play. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Gianluca Beyer in the 31st minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Nestor Makhno prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Lutz Dückert made a fantastic save in the 35th minute, when Mátyás Balázs sent off a good shot on target. Enno Chille received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Lutz Dückert came out and tried to block the shot, but Enno Chille slotted it home off the left post making it 2-1 in the 40th minute. Lutz Dückert stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Enno Chille's shot from short distance in the 45th minute. After some careless play in the Biersdorf defense, Oswald Löw kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Nestor Makhno. The Biersdorf fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Nestor Makhno should have stopped the shot.

Anthony Bakunin got his second yellow card in the match during the 55th minute which meant that he had to leave the ground. In the 55th match minute, Lüneburger SK was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Anthony Bakunin to maneuver through the defense. The Biersdorf fans' excitement grew in the 56th match minute when Biersdorf's Enno Chille looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 3-2 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. Enno Chille sent away a hard shot on goal in the 60th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Nestor Makhno didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Oswald Löw went, in the 62nd minute, to the upper right corner, 3-3 was the resulting score. Biersdorf's Marco Dickopf quite brazenly broke a throw-in by Frederik Schnell, made in the 79th minute of the game. 83 minutes into the game, Oswald Löw cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 4-6. Nestor Makhno was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Lutz Dückert didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Enno Chille went, in the 87th minute, to the upper right corner, 5-6 was the resulting score. Lutger Hennig kicked well hit freekick during the 90th minute of the match. 92 minutes into the match, Lüneburger SK's goal looked a bit too open when Enno Chille came free, but Lutz Dückert reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. A sloppy throw-in by Tim Carlhoff in the 94th minute of the game went astray and was snapped up by Biersdorf's Götz Belger. Lutz Dückert showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Enno Chille in the 96th minute of the match. When the referee blew the final whistle jeers and boos were heard from the home team's supporters. They were angered to see Biersdorf lose a match they had controlled from the kick-off.
