Sebald Schätzle fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 5th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Michael Fekecs having to interfere. Frederik Marohn kicked well hit freekick during the 10th minute of the match. After a defensive mix-up in HejaBVB's zone, Klaus Schlesiger stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Morris Scheer came out of the goal and Klaus Schlesiger tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 25th minute, Sebald Schätzle hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After 27 played minutes Sönnern got a freekick which was hit by Engelbert Gerdes. Morris Scheer made a fantastic save in the 30th minute, when Klaus Schlesiger sent off a good shot on target. Engelbert Gerdes sent away a hard shot on goal in the 34th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After a rather tough play, Sönnern's Engelbert Gerdes got a free kick in the 38th minute. Sönnern's Michael Fekecs played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Wolfgang Kriebel in the 42nd minute of play. 43 minutes into the match, Rodolfo Bruhn notched a goal, 0-1, to the right of Sönnern's Michael Fekecs. Michael Fekecs was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. After the first half HejaBVB were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Edbert Heiermann was the one to do the kick off. In the 58th minute Klaus Schlesiger shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Morris Scheer saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When Janek Kirch fell near the penalty area in the 59th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored HejaBVB's protests and gave Janek Kirch a yellow card for diving instead. Janek Kirch hit a great freekick 59 minutes into the match. Roy Baluszynski took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 60th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Morris Scheer. HejaBVB's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. The referee felt a red card was in order, 68 minutes into the game, when Clemens Burgbacher put in a rough tackle. After 68 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for HejaBVB! 75 minutes into the match, HejaBVB's goal looked a bit too open when Edbert Heiermann came free, but Morris Scheer reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. HejaBVB were unable to convert their possession into goals, allowing Sönnern to leave the ground with a draw.
