Match Report

Haast Stadion
Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0)
Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Rodolfo Stiegler started the match with the kick off. In the 2nd match minute, Eintracht Frankfurt was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Yildiz Behrens to maneuver through the defense. Eyjölfur Dugnus might have been able to make a better finish in the 4th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Gideon Baltermanns. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Eyjölfur Dugnus ran back to his position shaking his head. Jonathan Carlebach sent away a hard shot on goal in the 4th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. If Eyjölfur Dugnus had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 6th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Bartholomäus Brink fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 10th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Pascal Richerzhagen having to interfere. Eyjölfur Dugnus could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 17th minute of the match, but Gideon Baltermanns made a huge save. After 25 played minutes, Eintracht Frankfurt's Hellmuth Mierendorff shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Pascal Richerzhagen came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Eintracht Frankfurt reached it. The audience thought a goal was coming when Eyjölfur Dugnus got free with Gideon Baltermanns in the 27th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Pascal Richerzhagen took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Bartholomäus Brink, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. If Jonathan Carlebach had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 33rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Gideon Baltermanns made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Jonathan Carlebach in the 34th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Jonathan Carlebach in the 36th minute of play forced Eintracht Frankfurt's goalkeeper Gideon Baltermanns to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Jonathan Carlebach's late challenge caught a Eintracht Frankfurt's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Jonathan Carlebach helped the player get up and apologised. Jonathan Carlebach struck a weak shot in the 40th minute. Gideon Baltermanns didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Haast. After having played for 41 minutes, Eyjölfur Dugnus managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Haast's supporters crossed their fingers, but Eyjölfur Dugnus was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. When Uwe Meiners fell near the penalty area in the 44th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Eintracht Frankfurt's protests and gave Uwe Meiners a yellow card for diving instead. A hard shot by Tristan Hildebrandt from long distance, 45 minutes into the match, got Gideon Baltermanns's attention. Through a fast twist with his body, he could stop the ball from going in on his right side. 47 minutes into the match, Haast's goal looked a bit too open when Rodolfo Stiegler came free, but Pascal Richerzhagen reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Jonathan Carlebach to make the kick off. Bartholomäus Brink succeeded to score despite a near miss that spronge from right pole into the goal to 0-1 in the 51st playminute. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Eyjölfur Dugnus in the 56th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Gideon Baltermanns saved Eintracht Frankfurt from getting behind. 59 minutes into the game, Haast's Eyjölfur Dugnus nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Gideon Baltermanns made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-1. After 62 minutes, Rene Kippert mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Eintracht Frankfurt and the Haast players grew even worse after the yellow card. Rene Kippert hit a great freekick 62 minutes into the match. After 66 played minutes Haast got a freekick which was hit by Torsten Berkowitz. The supporters of Eintracht Frankfurt booed when Haast was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 68 match minutes in a wonderful position. Göran Gehse didn't get a good kick on the ball. Gideon Baltermanns took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Eyjölfur Dugnus, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After 73 minutes of play, Haast's Eyjölfur Dugnus made it 2-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Gideon Baltermanns was left in no man's land by his defense there! With a little luck, Haast's Pascal Richerzhagen got control of the ball when Bartholomäus Brink tried to sneak it across the goal line. Gideon Baltermanns showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Eyjölfur Dugnus in the 77th minute of the match. Rodolfo Stiegler was extremely unlucky when he, in the 81st minute, took a shot that hit the right post and went out. The audience thought a goal was coming when Bartholomäus Brink got free with Pascal Richerzhagen in the 83rd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Eyjölfur Dugnus sent away a hard shot on goal in the 85th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 87th minute Rodolfo Stiegler shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Pascal Richerzhagen saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Eintracht Frankfurt's Rodolfo Stiegler got a good chance for a goal in the 88th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Rodolfo Stiegler sent away a hard shot on goal in the 93rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. A collision led to Eintracht Frankfurt getting a freekick after 95 minutes play. Manuel Gratzke hit a great ball. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Haast fans cheered their team off the field, for while Eintracht Frankfurt had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
