After a defensive mix-up in Trochtelfingen's zone, Frank Eitler stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Dante Nievelstein came out of the goal and Frank Eitler tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The referee ignored Trochtelfingen's protests and gave Pascal Wörner a yellow card for diving instead. ZüricherFC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Trochtelfingen the free kick. Dante Nievelstein was left in no man's land by his defense there! The audience was convinced that Frank Eitler's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Dante Nievelstein was relentless in the 42nd minute of the game.
The wind increased when Hemmo Dommert made the kick off in the second half. If Manfred Cabanis had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 51st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 53rd minute, Waldemar Ehlen hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After 62 minutes, Yildiray Gaitanzis mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Trochtelfingen and the ZüricherFC players grew even worse after the yellow card. Manfred Cabanis sent away a hard shot on goal in the 90th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Frank Eitler could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 94th minute of the match, but Dante Nievelstein made a huge save.
