The supporters of Göschitz FC booed when Wemmatia was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 15 match minutes in a wonderful position. Friedrich Juhr didn't get a good kick on the ball. Lothar Riedel who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 34thth minute tested the skills of Eberhard Cardinale when he managed to save the team from getting behind. After a defensive mix-up in Göschitz FC's zone, Lothar Riedel stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Eberhard Cardinale came out of the goal and Lothar Riedel tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Eberhard Cardinale didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Lothar Riedel went, in the 40th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-0 was the resulting score. After a rather tough play, Wemmatia's Robert Naber got a free kick in the 43rd minute. An unexpected shot in the 46th minute by Karlo Carnitz got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 1-0.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Karlo Carnitz stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Karlo Carnitz in the 52nd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Eberhard Cardinale saved Göschitz FC from getting behind. Eberhard Cardinale was left in no man's land by his defense there! When Salvatore Rodekamp fell near the penalty area in the 61st minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Wemmatia's protests and gave Salvatore Rodekamp a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to Göschitz FC getting a freekick after 63 minutes play. Lothar Riedel scored 3-0 in the 68th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Eberhard Cardinale, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Robert Naber hit a great freekick 73 minutes into the match. Dirk Meyer was probably a little too eager to shoot when he, in the 74th played minute, shot the ball from way out. The shot was hard, but the ball flew wide of the goal. 76 minutes into the match, Göschitz FC's Torsten Müller sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Calvin Oswald narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Eberhard Cardinale showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Lothar Riedel, who was totally free with the ball in the 78th minute. Calvin Oswald showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Torsten Müller in the 89th minute of the match. After some fancy dribbling in the 90th minute, Karlo Carnitz managed to get in a good position for a shot. Wemmatia's supporters rose to their feet, but Karlo Carnitz was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Eberhard Cardinale breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick.
