Frank Burkart charged in rather forcefully in the 8th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Frank Burkart the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. 7 minutes into the game, one of FC Union Thale:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. The score was 1-0 after a penalty in the 9th minute, where Veldershof FSV:s Casimir Bidermann tricked FC Union Thale:s Lutz Hormes with a difficult ball by the left post. Michael Brechensbauer sent away a hard shot on goal in the 13th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When Michael Brechensbauer came up free with the goalie in the 15th minute, the FC Union Thale fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Michael Brechensbauer couldn't finish the play. 18 minutes into the game, Bradley Goetsch recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Lutz Hormes. Bradley Goetsch showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 2-0. 23 minutes into the match, Veldershof FSV's goal looked a bit too open when Siegmund Stamitz came free, but Ingolf Bigalke reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Bradley Goetsch sent away a hard shot on goal in the 25th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. If Bradley Goetsch had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 26th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Mario Rütten kicked well hit freekick during the 29th minute of the match. In the 30th match minute, Veldershof FSV was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Bradley Goetsch to maneuver through the defense. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Michael Brechensbauer in the 32nd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Ingolf Bigalke prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Michael Brechensbauer fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 36th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ingolf Bigalke having to interfere. In the 38thth minute of the game Michael Brechensbauer who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Veldershof FSV's Ingolf Bigalke was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. In the 40th minute, Veldershof FSV's Bradley Goetsch ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Lutz Hormes. Lutz Hormes yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 3-0. 46 minutes into the match, Michael Brechensbauer notched a goal, 3-1, to the right of Veldershof FSV's Ingolf Bigalke. Ingolf Bigalke was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Michael Brechensbauer made a kick off. A collision led to FC Union Thale getting a freekick after 51 minutes play. Michael Brechensbauer hit a great ball. 55 minutes into the match, FC Union Thale's goal looked a bit too open when Dietmar Mackowiak came free, but Lutz Hormes reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 56 played minutes FC Union Thale got a freekick which was hit by Mario Rütten. In the 57th minute, Bradley Goetsch got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Michael Brechensbauer struck a weak shot in the 60th minute. Ingolf Bigalke didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for FC Union Thale. FC Union Thale's Lutz Hormes played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Bradley Goetsch in the 63rd minute of play. Siegmund Stamitz in the 67thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Ingolf Bigalke, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. The supporters of Veldershof FSV booed when FC Union Thale was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 69 match minutes in a wonderful position. Frank Burkart didn't get a good kick on the ball. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Dietmar Mackowiak during the 70th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Dietmar Mackowiak kicked well hit freekick during the 71st minute of the match. After some fancy dribbling in the 81st minute, Michael Brechensbauer managed to get in a good position for a shot. FC Union Thale's supporters rose to their feet, but Michael Brechensbauer was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Ingolf Bigalke breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. 83 minutes into the match, Veldershof FSV's goal looked a bit too open when Michael Brechensbauer came free, but Ingolf Bigalke reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Lutz Hormes showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Dietmar Mackowiak in the 85th minute of the match. Ingolf Bigalke was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Michael Brechensbauer showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 3-2 in the 86 minute of play. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Mario Rütten during the 94th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After a rather tough play, FC Union Thale's Mario Rütten got a free kick in the 94th minute. FC Union Thale's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
