An unexpectedly hard shot by Manfred Hertz in the 6th minute of play forced Höchstberg FSV's goalkeeper Sören Schütze to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Wolfram Zellier made an important save on a dangerous shot by Wilhelm Seider in the 8th minute. Wolfgang Hölderlin sent away a hard shot on goal in the 12th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. FC Lengerich 23's Wolfram Zellier proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 15th minute of the match, managed to save FC Lengerich 23 from getting a goal against them. A collision led to FC Lengerich 23 getting a freekick after 15 minutes play. Dietbald Anzengruber hit a great ball. Wilhelm Seider sent away a hard shot on goal in the 19th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Wolfram Zellier showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Rayk Doll, who was totally free with the ball in the 21st minute. FC Lengerich 23's Wolfram Zellier played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Rayk Doll in the 24th minute of play. After having played for 29 minutes, Manfred Hertz managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. FC Lengerich 23's supporters crossed their fingers, but Manfred Hertz was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. If Wolfgang Hölderlin had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 30th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Wolfgang Hölderlin recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 35th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. 37 minutes into the match, Höchstberg FSV's goal looked a bit too open when Manfred Hertz came free, but Sören Schütze reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 39th minute, Roland Posner hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 48th minute Wolfgang Hölderlin shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Sören Schütze saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Rayk Doll to make the kick off. 52 minutes into the match, FC Lengerich 23's goal looked a bit too open when Wilhelm Seider came free, but Wolfram Zellier reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 54th minute Rayk Doll shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Wolfram Zellier saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 55 minutes into the match, Höchstberg FSV's goalkeeper Sören Schütze had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Manfred Hertz. In the 58th minute Rayk Doll shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Wolfram Zellier saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Though ot was a great shot Höchstberg FSV's keeper Sören Schütze was sill able to block leaving the score board unchanged. When Manfred Hertz, who was free, got the in front of the goal in the 94 minute he wasn't focused and tipped the ball just over the goal. The Sören Schütze was delighted since the ball would have got in if it had gone under the crossbar. When Wolfgang Hölderlin came up free with the goalie in the 96th minute, the FC Lengerich 23 fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Wolfgang Hölderlin couldn't finish the play. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Erik Tauer during the 97th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Sören Schütze made a fantastic save in the 99th minute, when Manfred Hertz sent off a good shot on target. Höchstberg FSV succeeded in salvaging a draw, even though FC Lengerich 23 had controlled the match.
