Gismund Heidingsfelder sent away a hard shot on goal in the 4th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Jaap Geenen's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Rafael Frohwein read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 7th minute of play. Rafael Frohwein stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Jaap Geenen's shot from short distance in the 12th minute. In the 12th match minute, Rupennest was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Swen Pförtner to maneuver through the defense. If Jaap Geenen had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 15th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Olaf Humbert received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 18th minute. Rafael Frohwein tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After having played for 21 minutes, Olaf Humbert managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Moselkern's supporters crossed their fingers, but Olaf Humbert was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Rafael Frohwein took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Olaf Humbert, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 22nd minute Moselkern were awarded a corner. Ralph Havemann went to the cornerflag to take it. Rupennest's Rafael Frohwein played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Olaf Humbert in the 25th minute of play. 25 minutes into the match, Olaf Humbert had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Rafael Frohwein. Rupennest's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Olaf Humbert was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-1. After a defensive mix-up in Rupennest's zone, Olaf Humbert stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Rafael Frohwein came out of the goal and Olaf Humbert tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Rafael Frohwein showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Jaap Geenen, who was totally free with the ball in the 38th minute. In the 39th minute of the match, Philipp Schreiber tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Daniel Kalb saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. Olaf Humbert recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 41st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. If Jaap Geenen had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 42nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Tobias Scheuch sent away a hard shot on goal in the 44th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. With a little luck, Moselkern's Daniel Kalb got control of the ball when Gismund Heidingsfelder tried to sneak it across the goal line. Disappointed in the 0-1 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

When Gismund Heidingsfelder came up free with the goalie in the 57th minute, the Rupennest fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Gismund Heidingsfelder couldn't finish the play. When Jaap Geenen came up free with the goalie in the 62nd minute, the Moselkern fans jumped to their feet. Jaap Geenen could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 93rd minute of the match, but Rafael Frohwein made a huge save. Rupennest's Rafael Frohwein played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Olaf Humbert in the 96th minute of play. For all the effort they put into the match, the Moselkern players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for Rupennest.
