After 17 minutes of play, RB Leipzig's Godo Schirp made it 0-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. An unexpectedly hard shot by Yusuf Şimşek in the 41st minute of play forced Hammelbach's goalkeeper Kasper Jetzek to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 42 minutes into the match, Hammelbach's goal looked a bit too open when Godo Schirp came free, but Kasper Jetzek reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Kasper Jetzek came out of the goal in the 43rd minute to try and stop a shot by RB Leipzig's Torbjörn Ruhnau. But to his dismay, Torbjörn Ruhnau quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-6. Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Berko Ilius to make the kick off. The supporters of Hammelbach booed when RB Leipzig was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 54 match minutes in a wonderful position. Panos Kalokerinos didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 55 minutes, Marcel Krieger mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Hammelbach and the RB Leipzig players grew even worse after the yellow card. Kasper Jetzek was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Yusuf Şimşek showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 0-10 in the 68 minute of play. A collision led to Hammelbach getting a freekick after 72 minutes play. Marcello Burkart hit a great ball. If Panos Kalokerinos had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 73rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Yusuf Şimşek fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 75th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Kasper Jetzek having to interfere. During the 76th minute of the match Marcel Krieger completely mistimed his tackle and brought down his opponent. In the 79th minute, Godo Schirp got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. An unexpected shot in the 80th minute by Yusuf Şimşek got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. Hammelbach's players were relieved. RB Leipzig's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
