Carl Bauriegel took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Franz Reiche, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After some careless play in the Kölner Sportverein defense, Franz Reiche kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Carl Bauriegel. The Kölner Sportverein fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Carl Bauriegel should have stopped the shot. 20 minutes into the game, Kölner Sportverein's Marco Kau nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Sylvain Lawen made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-2. Gregor Spoorendonk kicked well hit freekick during the 24th minute of the match. Wolfgang Wiechmann's late challenge caught a Kölner Sportverein's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Wolfgang Wiechmann helped the player get up and apologised. Marco Kau received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 26th minute. Sylvain Lawen tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Lasse Bästlein hit a great freekick 28 minutes into the match. In the 32nd minute Marco Kau shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Sylvain Lawen saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. TSV Bad Blankenburg's Franz Reiche got a good chance for a goal in the 35th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Carl Bauriegel took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Franz Reiche, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. When Franz Reiche came up free with the goalie in the 38th minute, the TSV Bad Blankenburg fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Franz Reiche couldn't finish the play. In the 44th minute, Franz Reiche left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The TSV Bad Blankenburg fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-3. After the first half TSV Bad Blankenburg were leading 1-3. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The wind increased when Franz Reiche made the kick off in the second half. After 51 minutes of play, Kölner Sportverein's Günter Hambloch made it 2-3 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Sylvain Lawen was left in no man's land by his defense there! Günter Hambloch sent away a hard shot on goal in the 55th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. An unexpectedly hard shot by Günter Hambloch in the 59th minute of play forced TSV Bad Blankenburg's goalkeeper Sylvain Lawen to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When the match clock showed 63 minutes, the score became 2-4 when Olav Böringer sped through Kölner Sportverein's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Carl Bauriegel. When Günter Hambloch came up free with the goalie in the 67th minute, the Kölner Sportverein fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Günter Hambloch couldn't finish the play. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing TSV Bad Blankenburg would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
