An unexpectedly hard shot by Alvar Kipping in the 11th minute of play forced Górnik Zabrze's goalkeeper Marcus Rashford to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 12th minute Volker Wischnowsky shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Albert Schlein saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 15 minutes into the game, Volker Wischnowsky recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Albert Schlein. Volker Wischnowsky showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 1-0. Niklas Petermann hit a great freekick 20 minutes into the match. Frido Lausberg received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 21st minute. Albert Schlein tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 25th minute Benjamin Mayr shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Marcus Rashford saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Volker Wischnowsky in the 27th minute of play forced Hillsbach's goalkeeper Albert Schlein to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After some careless play in the Górnik Zabrze defense, Benjamin Mayr kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Marcus Rashford. The Górnik Zabrze fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Marcus Rashford should have stopped the shot. Hillsbach's Albert Schlein played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Volker Wischnowsky in the 34th minute of play. The supporters of Górnik Zabrze booed when Hillsbach was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 36 match minutes in a wonderful position. Jean Adolphi didn't get a good kick on the ball. When Górnik Zabrze's Volker Wischnowsky in the 40th minute got a chance for a shot 40th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. 45 minutes into the game, Niklas Petermann was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Hillsbach's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Górnik Zabrze the free kick. A collision led to Hillsbach getting a freekick after 45 minutes play. Niklas Petermann hit a great ball. After 46 played minutes, Górnik Zabrze's Marcio Gabler shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Albert Schlein came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Górnik Zabrze reached it. An unexpectedly hard shot by Benjamin Mayr in the 48th minute of play forced Górnik Zabrze's goalkeeper Marcus Rashford to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

After a defensive mix-up in Górnik Zabrze's zone, Alvar Kipping stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Marcus Rashford came out of the goal and Alvar Kipping tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After 59 minutes, Thaddäus Schmedes mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Górnik Zabrze and the Hillsbach players grew even worse after the yellow card. When the match had been going on for 60 minutes, Hillsbach's Eduard Biskup got an opportunity to shoot a penalty. He stayed cool and waited for the goalkeeper to move, before he confidently shot the ball into the goal, to the left of Marcus Rashford. Albert Schlein showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Volker Wischnowsky in the 63rd minute of the match. Alvar Kipping's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Marcus Rashford read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 66th minute of play. If Benjamin Mayr had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 67th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When the match had gone on for 70 minutes, Alvar Kipping put it in 1-3 from a short distance just to the right of Marcus Rashford. In the 73rd match minute, Górnik Zabrze was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Marcio Gabler to maneuver through the defense. Frido Lausberg sent away a hard shot on goal in the 75th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Alvar Kipping fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 83rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Marcus Rashford having to interfere. The audience thought a goal was coming when Alvar Kipping got free with Marcus Rashford in the 96th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. An unexpected shot in the 97th minute by Alvar Kipping got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. The supporters of Hillsbach booed when Górnik Zabrze was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 98 match minutes in a wonderful position. Cosimo Hötte didn't get a good kick on the ball. Benjamin Mayr fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 99th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Marcus Rashford having to interfere. Hillsbach's supporters were very happy and cheered loudly because their team had won after a very close match.
