They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Rainald Bergmann made a kick off. In the 54th minute, Brix Schütze hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. A collision led to Hamm getting a freekick after 56 minutes play. Costa Deisler hit a great ball. Arian Tremmel showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Rainald Bergmann, who was totally free with the ball in the 59th minute. When the match had gone on for 63 minutes, Adnan Schwunk put it in 1-2 from a short distance just to the right of Raphael Weller. If Stefan Jahr had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 66th minute. Jens Sülzner hit a great freekick 92 minutes into the match. Hamm's Jockel Scheffczyk got a good chance for a goal in the 96th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. When the referee ended the match the Hamm players were able to celebrate. They had won a fair victory and recieved the ovations of their fans.
