The supporters of Union Solingen booed when HBH was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 13 match minutes in a wonderful position. Philipp Askri didn't get a good kick on the ball. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Taha Kurceren in the 23rd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Philipp Olowka prevented the ball from getting in the gole. 25 minutes into the match, Union Solingen's goal looked a bit too open when Gonzalo Tipi came free, but Philipp Olowka reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Marco Weste could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 33rd minute of the match, but Remigiusz Wojtyna made a huge save. After a rather tough play, HBH's Apollo Rix got a free kick in the 34th minute. 36 minutes into the match, Johan Korell had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Remigiusz Wojtyna. HBH's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Johan Korell was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-1. In the 39th minute, Sascha Andre Hopmeier hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 40th minute of the match Mario Lung shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Remigiusz Wojtyna showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Remigiusz Wojtyna made an important save on a dangerous shot by Marco Weste in the 43rd minute. In the 44thth minute of the game Johan Korell who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but HBH's Remigiusz Wojtyna was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Gonzalo Tipi was the one to do the kick off. After 50 played minutes Union Solingen got a freekick which was hit by Marco Weste. Philipp Olowka stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Taha Kurceren's shot from short distance in the 51st minute. In the 56th match minute, Union Solingen was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Samson Körper to maneuver through the defense. Herbert Bönninger hit a great freekick 61 minutes into the match. Didier Garden recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 62nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After a rather tough play, HBH's Gonzalo Tipi got a free kick in the 65th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Hannes Altvater in the 71st minute of play forced HBH's goalkeeper Remigiusz Wojtyna to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Remigiusz Wojtyna showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Marco Weste, who was totally free with the ball in the 73rd minute. A collision led to Union Solingen getting a freekick after 78 minutes play. Mario Lung hit a great ball. After 79 played minutes Union Solingen got a freekick which was hit by Hannes Altvater. Samson Körper was astounded when the referee showed him the red card after a seemingly innocent challenge, 81 minutes into the match. Remigiusz Wojtyna showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Hannes Altvater, who was totally free with the ball in the 89th minute. Gonzalo Tipi fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 90th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Philipp Olowka having to interfere.
